Deputy Administrator
Gale Rossides' expansive background in public sector management and her extensive experience in organizational development and business process re-engineering provide a solid foundation for implementing Administrator Kip Hawley's vision of transforming TSA into a more flexible, adaptive and risk- based agency.
As one of the six original federal executives to create TSA, Rossides led the efforts to develop and implement transportation security officer technical training and certification standards. As Associate Under Secretary for Training and Quality Performance, Rossides led a team of government and private sector personnel that successfully trained and certified more than 50,000 transportation security officers in less than six months. She also led the team that successfully federalized the first domestic airport, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
From December 2002 through September 2004, Rossides served as the Associate Administrator/Chief Support Systems Officer where she led one of the largest outsourcing initiatives in the federal government to provide all human resources management, technical training, and information technology services to TSA.
From September 2004 through August 2005, Rossides served at the Department of Homeland Security as the Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary and Director of Business Transformation in the Office of the Under Secretary for Management.
Rossides' most recent position was as Associate Administrator for Business Transformation and Culture where she led the massive workforce initiatives, maturing TSA's internal management functions, and built TSA's Senior Leadership Team to govern day to day operations of TSA.
Prior to joining TSA and DHS, Rossides was appointed the first Assistant Director (Training and Professional Development) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) where she led all investigative and leadership training, spearheaded the introduction of numerous systems, business processes and programs to re-engineer ATF operations, and led efforts to bring about a culture change in the agency.
Gale Rossides earned her Bachelor of Arts with a double major from Wheaton College (Norton, Mass.) and is a graduate of George Washington University's Masters in Public Administration for Federal Executives program.
